San Diego Taiko

San Diego Taiko’s mission is to share the art form of Taiko and our passion for playing it with the San Diego community through performances and outreach. We like to think San Diego Taiko’s playing style reflects some of the environmental qualities that draw people to Southern California—from the rush of powerful gusts of desert wind whipping through cragged canyons and rocky coastlines to the pulsing rhythm of ocean waves crashing in unbridled joy upon the beach. As a group, we like to play at full throttle, giving everything we have—mind, body and soul—so the audience can fully feel the taiko’s power and ability to transport the listener.

San Diego Taiko will be presenting an eight-member ensemble playing music ranging from traditional Japanese drumming to high-energy modern pieces.
